The Bishop’s Office provides support for the Bishop in his pastoral responsibilities. The work of the office includes:
- assisting the Bishop with correspondence
- handling enquiries about church life
- receiving and investigating concerns relating to parishes, priests and schools
- coordinating the appointment and support of clergy in the diocese
- assisting clergy and religious with immigration issues
- providing a liaison between the Bishop and parish pastoral workers
- offering support to Catholic hospital chaplains
- handling church legalities regarding weddings
- providing a link between the Bishop and Religious working in the diocese
- communicating with other NZ dioceses, religious superiors, and the Holy See
- providing information regarding attending Papal Audiences
- providing information to order Papal Blessings, or Papal Awards
