Ministries to Young People – University Ministry Coordinator
Are you a self-motivated relationship-builder who can be the driving force behind a new project? Are you looking for a role where you can make a meaningful positive impact in the lives of young adults?
We’re looking for someone who answers “Yes!” to become our full-time University Ministry Coordinator. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team implementing a bold new strategy for ministry to young people in the Diocese of Auckland.
This role has 3 key objectives:
- To launch and coordinate a new strategy for ministry to university students across multiple campuses.
- To deliver an engaging calendar of events, reaching out to university students, building community and providing formation.
- Ensuring that university students in the Diocese are pastorally support and connected to local Catholic faith communities.
The ideal candidate for this role will:
- Be self-motivated, with demonstrated success in project planning and implementation.
- Be relationship-oriented, demonstrating ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, university students, and external stakeholders.
- Be well organised, demonstrating capacity to create and adhere to project management systems in the context of complex and fast-paced projects.
- Be available to work 8-16 hours per week in the evening and/or during the weekend, as required.

Northland Region Corrections Facility - Ngawha - Catholic Prison Chaplaincy
We are seeking to employ a suitably qualified person to work as a member of the Tira Tūhāhā Prison Chaplaincy Aotearoa Chaplaincy Team, which delivers Ecumenical Chaplaincy services to men in prison at the Northland Region Corrections Facility. The position is a permanent part-time position, 20 hours per week – days to be determined but with the expectation of some Sundays per month for Sunday Services.
The Catholic Prison Chaplaincy service is a separate but integrated ministry which promotes and shares the Gospel message, provides for the celebration of the Sacraments, and provides pastoral care, counsel and support.
The role requires a special combination of experience, skill, formation, and personal qualities. Applicants will come from a committed Catholic ministry background, should demonstrate a personal faith commitment, relevant pastoral formation and experience, a high level of personal maturity and judgement, a resilient personality and success in working in teams. Training and support are available for the right candidate.
Applicants should note that the successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment screening required by the Diocese and the Department of Corrections.

Catholic Social Services is a faith-based organisation, founded by Catholic Social teaching. Catholic Social Services integrates the Catholic Diocese of Auckland’s mission and values into their work practices with their mission being “Christ’s compassion in our communities addressing social and personal need”. Catholic Social Services provides Social Work, Counselling and Pacific Living without Violence services across the Diocese of Auckland – supporting families and individuals who are in crisis, affected by social issues and family violence, by providing guidance, advocacy, and intervention.
We are seeking two people passionate about working with people and ensuring the needs of clients and their families are fully met. Someone who is willing to work both independently and as part of a team and someone who is willing to build community networks and work closing with other agencies and our parishes. These roles are based in our Otara Office.
The role’s key function is to assist with fulfilling the contractual obligations to MSD/Oranga Tamariki, by responding to Family Harm referrals.
Applicants must have:
- A Social Work qualification, or finishing one, that is recognised by the New Zealand Association of Social Workers Registration Board.
- Registered with the New Zealand Association of Social Workers Registration Board or if a graduate happy to work towards this.
- Proven experience in social work with individuals and Whanau and commitment to quality social services provision to whanau.
- Advocacy in support of whanau and individuals’ human rights e.g. access to housing and general social support.
- Experience of working in the area of family violence and individuals and whanau with complex needs and confidence in ability to assess both safety and risk.
- A commitment to bi-cultural and multi-cultural Aotearoa New Zealand and experience in working alongside Māori and Pasifika people.
- A commitment to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A current full driver’s license.
- Empathy with and commitment to upholding the values of the Catholic Church would be an advantage
