Philip Mahoney

Phil Mahoney

General Manager

Masters Educational Leadership (Australian Catholic University), Bachelor of Science (Victoria University), Graduate Diploma Mission Studies (Sydney College of Divinity).

I have taught in eight secondary schools in New Zealand including 6 years as Principal of Sacred Heart College in Auckland and four years as Principal of St Patrick’s College Silverstream. I have also worked for the Abu Dhabi Education Council as a school’s manager for 18 months involved with middle, primary and kindergarten schools. At the beginning of my teaching career, I was also a Marist priest and this led me eventually to work in the Marist mission in Brazil in 1990. After four years there, I left the Marist order, married and worked supplying English teaching services to multinational companies in Sao Paulo. I returned to New Zealand and to teaching in 1997. I have three sons, and through my Brazilian wife remain connected to the Brazilian community in New Zealand.


Ann Kelly

Secretary Personal Assistant

I provide administrative and clerical support to the General Manager, also support to the Vicar of Education and to the Religious Education Advisors. I keep all systems up to date especially the database and teacher accreditation records. I take Minutes for the CES Board meetings, manage records of Proprietor Reps, organise and manage records for the Covich Scholarships. I previously worked 17 years in a Catholic School office. I love time spent in the outdoors, especially tramping, cycling and walking. I enjoy time with my family.

Trained at Auckland Training College, I taught in state schools for 6 years before working in Catholic schools for 20 years. I then became Principal at St Patrick’s School, Panmure and after 9 years was contracted by the Ministry of Education as a “Schooling Improvement” facilitator then spent the next 3 years as the researcher for the Manaiakalani Project in the Tamaki Cluster of schools. In 2012 I joined the Catholic Schools Office as the Review and Development Officer.


Margaret Fitzpatrick

Religious Education Advisor – Primary

M.R.E. (ACU), Dip Teaching (Glasgow, Scotland); Dip Teaching of R.E.(Glasgow, Scotland); Cert Maori Theology and Spirituality (CIT)
I have been a Religious Education Adviser (Primary) with the Catholic Education Office since 2012, having previously taught in primary schools and as an R.E. teacher in secondary schools, in New Zealand, Scotland and England. Before becoming an Advisor I was Director of Religious Studies at St Dominic’s Catholic Primary School, Blockhouse Bay.


Philomena Clare

Philomena is a native of Ireland. She has spent many years teaching in secondary schools in Aotearoa NZ from Gisborne to Auckland where she has taught Religious Education and Geography.
Philomena is passionate about the environment, children and scripture. She sees life as an adventure and when not working, can be found at the Academy Theatre exploring World cinema or attending one of the magical events which living in Auckland offers.


Carolynn Phillips

I trained at Loreto Hall Catholic Teachers College and have taught in Catholic schools in Auckland and London for 33 years. I am primary trained and have worked in both Primary & Secondary school. I also spent 2 years working in a friend’s Early Childhood Centre.
I was Director of Religious Studies at Marist College, Auckland for 8 years and principal of St Michael’s Catholic School, Remuera for nearly 7 years.
I have a passion for Catholic Education and my family. I have 3 children; 1 daughter and 2 sons. My other passions include long walks, especially on the beach, reading, and enjoying time with my family & friends.

Trained at Manukau Institute of Technology, I worked 2.5 years at Wade & Associates Ltd as accounting Technician, then 1.5 years at Chester Gray Chartered Accountants Ltd as accountant. I joined the Catholic Diocese of Auckland as the Financial Accountant in 2003, looking after Auckland Common Fund Ltd, Catholic Education Service Board , CDA ‘s Policy One Account and The Robert Ned Covich Scholarship Fund accounts. I am also the volunteer treasurer of Kohimarama Yacht Club.


Michelle Jarvis

Grad.Dip. Bus AUT, NZ Cert Recruitment.

My background is in Recruitment and Training. In my role at the Catholic Schools office I am responsible for the website, CSO database and administering the Bishop’s Jubilee Bursary. My three children all attend Catholic High Schools on the North Shore. In my free time I enjoy running and spending time in my garden
