Pastoral Planning

“I hope that all communities will devote the necessary effort to advancing along the path of a pastoral and missionary conversion which cannot leave things as they presently are. “Mere administration” can no longer be enough. Throughout the world, let us be ‘permanently in a state of mission’”.

Evangelii Gaudium, 25 (On the Proclamation of the Gospel in Today’s Word), Pope Francis, 2013.

The Diocesan Pastoral Plan is the roadmap which all parishes and communities should use in order to build a strong and authentic Christian community. It listens to the signs of the times and spreads the message of Christ in words and deeds.

All communities in the diocese; parishes, ethnic chaplaincies and Catholic schools, are to incorporate the Diocesan Pastoral Plan in their individual pastoral planning, in order to have a unified and comprehensive pastoral approach for all the faithful in the entire diocese.

“Fit For Mission”- Takatū Ki Te Mau I Te Rongo Pai, is the Diocesan Pastoral Plan that was launched on Pentecost Sunday 2014.

With this new five year plan, Bishop Patrick Dunn urges all the baptised in the diocese to follow Pope Francis’ call to reach out beyond their parish, community and school boundaries to bring the good news and the love of Jesus to all.
