Easter Message 2016

Alleluia, Alleluia, Jesus Christ is risen.

Easter is the most important and oldest feast of the Church’s Year.
It celebrates the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ.
The event of the resurrection puts the “Good” into Good Friday.
Because of the resurrection we dare to believe that the end of this life is not the end, there is life beyond.
This is so important to Christians that we proclaim Easter for 50 days.
We party: for 50 days we celebrate because we are people of the resurrection.
Celebrations do not cease after Easter.
Each Eucharist, celebrates the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, they are mini Easter celebrations.

Christmas – a message of peace for a troubled world

December 2015

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light." (Isaiah 9:1)

As we celebrate again the birth of Jesus, God who became as one of us, born in the humble cave in Bethlehem, we recognise anew the light of God’s love which shines in our darkness.

May the promise of the Infant Jesus renew hope, peace and joy in all hearts, especially for those who are afflicted by poverty, loneliness, homelessness and the horror of war. May his redeeming strength transform arms into ploughshares and hatred into love and mercy.

O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel
