Certificate in Catholic Youth Ministry

The Certificate in Catholic Youth Ministry will give you the knowledge you need to match the faith and enthusiasm you already have with helping young people connect to their faith! The Certificate in Catholic Youth Ministry is for those who:

  • Minister with young people in a Catholic context
  • Are interested in deepening their own faith and spirituality
  • Are looking for a qualification in pastoral ministry with young people
  • Have a governance or mentoring role in ministry to young people.

The Certificate in Catholic Youth Ministry consists of seven courses at Level 5 (72 credits). Having completed this qualification, graduates will have a balanced introductory knowledge of scripture, theology and pastoral ministry, their application in the youth ministry setting and an understanding of the skills and attitudes needed to practice as youth ministers. The course is open to all adult students (17+ years) who display a proven ability to cope with tertiary education or have a motivation to learn at this level.

There will be three papers on offer for the Certificate in Catholic Youth Ministry in 2015. Details are:

YM101 ( Introduction to Youth Ministry) – 20 and 21 March, 8 and 9 May. Friday night sessions are from 6pm-9pm and Saturday session are from 9 am-4pm

YM102 (Introduction to Spirituality for Youth Ministers) – (Friday/Saturday) 24/25 July, 11/12 September.

TH101 (Introduction to Catholicism) – over two weekends (Friday evening/Saturday): 26/27 June and 3/4 July

SC101 (Introduction to the Old Testament) – (Thursday/Friday) 8-9 Oct and Friday 16 Oct, 9am-4pm.
