Caritas Challenge 2016 will be held from 16-24 April. This year the focus is on Cambodia. On a daily basis many Cambodians face social injustice such as loss of land, the effects of climate change, human rights breaches and economic instability. This year we will stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters from Cambodia and raise funds for them.
West Region (15-16 April, 10pm at St Patrick’s Huapai – St Patrick’s Cathedral): will be doing a MOVE IT challenge where young people and leaders will walk for approximately 24 hours starting out at St Patrick’s Parish (Huapai) and ending at St Patrick’s Cathedral in the city. They will also be sleeping on the grass area at Bruce Mcclaren in front of the liquor store as part of their LIVE IT challenge after the walk.
The East Region will be organising their challenge in two groups:
Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Meadowbank (23-24 April at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall, Meadowbank) will have a mix of activities that focus on social justice, climate change and food security. They will be doing the LIVE IT challenge by staying overnight in their parish hall and then by walking to the Cathedral in time for the Diocesan Youth Mass.
St Mark’s Parish, Pakuranga (Saturday, 23rd April, 9 am) will start with Mass. They will incorporate the SWEAT IT challenge by making rosaries. They will also visit the Pakuranga Rest Home and will serve them afternoon tea as part of their faith in action activity. They will end with Mass at 5.30pm.
