Remembering Pat….
It is with great sadness we remember and pray for the soul of our dear friend and former Chair to the Justice and Peace Commission, Pat Lythe who passed away this morning after a brief but stoic battle with cancer.
There was no mistaking when Pat was in a room or a meeting.
Her direct, no nonsense, steadfast, and matronly spirit knew no restraint.
Yet, she could exhibit and inhabit a genuine warmth and caring kindness which belied her firm school Ma’am exterior.
Her encouraging, tough-love approach could break through the most stubborn and headstrong of personalities, while her humour could disarm and surprise in equal measure.
The Commission remembers Pat’s unswerving devotion, faith and commitment to justice and peace.
Her deep well of knowledge, wisdom, prayerfulness, and piety will be sadly and greatly missed.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matt 25:23)
Goodbye, Pat, my dearest friend I will miss our coffee catch ups, I will miss your unflappable support, kindness and trust, and I will miss our friendship and fellowship.
We will miss your generous and loving spirit.
E te Ariki, hoatu ki a ia te okiokinga tonutanga; ā, kia whiti kia a ia te māramatanga mutunga kore.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
