Life Teen Summer Camp Auckland 2022

Cancellation Announcement

LIFE TEEN SUMMER CAMP AUCKLAND 2022

CANCELLATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Kia ora koutou everyone,

Thank you so much for your continued enthusiasm around Life Teen Summer Camp Auckland 2022. The team has been blown away by your support for this event, especially in the midst of ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing COVID restrictions, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel Life Teen Summer Camp 2022.

As we’re sure you are aware, New Zealand is currently under Red traffic light restrictions as part of the COVID protection framework. What this means is that events are limited to a maximum of 100 participants.

Hopefully COVID cases will be declining by the end of March, but there is no certainty about whether restrictions will reduce before Summer Camp is due to begin in April. It is primarily for this reason that we’ve had to make the decision to cancel Life Teen Summer camp.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that we will be replacing Summer Camp with two new events, which will be able to go ahead even if we are still under Red traffic light restrictions in April.

The first of these events is Rise Up, a youth camp taking place from Wednesday 20 April – Friday 22 April. Rise Up is going to be an awesome 3 days of fun, friends and faith for the teens of our Diocese. This event is for 13-18yr olds and their youth leaders. Registrations will be opening on Monday 28 February and will be limited to 100 participants, so get in quickly.

The second event is Summit, a weekend for our Youth and Young Adults leaders. This will be taking place from the evening of Friday 22 April until Sunday 24 April. COVID means that the Auckland Catholic Youth Ministry team can’t the large-scale events that we normally would. But we are so grateful that our youth and young adults leaders are still able to do great ministry at a local level.

With this in mind, we really want to invest into the young leaders of the Diocese over the coming months. If you’re a leader, then Summit is for you. In the Bible there are so many stories of leaders ascending to the summit to go deeper with God, and get formed and filled up for ministry. That is our intention with this weekend. Again, registrations open on Monday 28 February and we’re limited to 100 participants. Leaders, you do not want to miss this event.

Finally, we want you to know that Life Teen Summer Camp 2023 is already locked in for next January.

While we are sad to cancel Life Teen Summer Camp 2022, we are still excited for April and we are excited to be able to move ahead with greater certainty.

For everyone who is able to be a part of Rise Up or Summit, any registration costs that you’ve already paid can go straight towards your registration for these new events. However, for anyone who needs it, we will be offering a full refund of the registration costs paid. We will be contacting every group that has registered in the coming days with further information about this.

I want to finish by saying a few massive thank yous. Thank you to staff and the planning team. Thank you also to our summer missionaries and volunteers. There has been so much hard work put into Life Teen Summer Camp, and fortunately a lot of that work can now be transferred over to our new events. It isn’t going to waste.

Thank you once again to everyone who had been part of the Life Teen Summer Camp journey. We’re still looking forward to April, and in spite of COVID, we are looking forward to what I’m sure will be an incredible year where the Holy Spirit is moving in the Young People of the Diocese.

God bless,

The LTSCAK2022 Team

Camp Registrations is now open

WELCOME HOME, This is what every teenager hears the moment they step onto the grounds at a Life Teen Summer Camp. From your dining room table to the altar at your home parish, we understand the importance of teenagers having a sense of home — a place of belonging and peace and safety. Whether you’re raising a family or building a parish community, we know how much effort you put into creating a physical, emotional, and spiritual place that others can call “home.” Our goal is simple: to be a continuation of that effort — to extend your home’s reach into a teenager’s summer camp experience. We may not know what a teenager’s life is like when they arrive at camp but no matter their questions, doubts, or struggles they may be working through, they are always welcome. This is their home, away from home.

Summer Missions:

We are excited to let you know that we now have over 60+ Summer Missionaries. We cannot thank these young adults enough for their FIAT, for their YES. Summer Missionaries, don't forget to accept your role by filling up the form below. We cannot wait to continue on this journey with you.

FAITH

Rooted In Sacraments

Life Teen believes deeply in the power and grace of the Sacraments, and our camp will provide a multitude of opportunities to experience God through the Sacraments, including daily Mass, confession every morning and night, and Eucharistic Adoration. Our desire is for every teen to leave camp with a stronger relationship with Jesus Christ.

Inspiring Sessions

At any given week of Life Teen summer camp, you’ll find some of the best and brightest speakers and musicians in Catholic youth ministry. Teens will hear powerful talks from relatable, funny, and challenging hosts, along with prayerful and engaging praise and worship music from music ministers. Every session is crafted to assist teens in examining their lives and growing in their faith.

Personal Prayer

Camp provides the space for everyone, and we mean everyone, to develop a deeper and more meaningful prayer life. With a balance of group reflections, guided prayer activities and silent personal meditations, we create enough space for every teen to dive into a rhythm of prayer that is ready for them to carry over into their daily lives.

FRIENDS

Strengthening Parishes

Life Teen summer camp is a great place for parishes to grow together in faith and unity. No teen can come to camp by themselves; we’re committed to building up parishes through designating intentional time together, investing in youth ministers and empowering core members. Parishes will arrive as a group, and leave as a family.

Friendships: New & Old

If you’ve ever felt like you’re alone in your faith, summer camp is the perfect place for you to realize you’re not! Teens will be able to meet and share with hundreds of other campers from around the country while journeying alongside their parish friends throughout the week. Countless friendships will be created and strengthened by the end of camp.

Be Yourself

Being a teenager can be hard. There’s so much pressure to fit in or act and look a certain way. Camp makes it easy to be yourself and let down any walls that were built up during the school year. When you experience the amount of fun, faith, and fellowship offered at a Life Teen summer camp, it’s almost impossible to not leave with a happier heart.

FOR TEENS AGED 13 - 17

Life Teen is a movement within the Roman Catholic Church, which leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.  Life Teen Summer Camp is aimed for teens aged 13-17.   One of the big focuses at Life Teen is parish-based discipleship. Life Teen want campers to attend and grow in their faith, as well as grow closer with their parish family.  The Life Teen Summer Camps Leadership Team plans, prepares, and facilitates the programming, liturgies and activities for each day. Each day teens will experience Mass and other powerful prayer experiences. Key sessions, led by a dynamic speaker, will break open scriptural topics to lead your teens into a more authentic encounter with Christ. Once during the week the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available. All of this alongside an obstacle course, messy games, plenty of free time and much more. Each day campers will enjoy three delicious meals.
