We all know someone who is or has been affected by mental health and suicide. We can feel overwhelmed when it comes to giving support to those who are struggling. We would love to invite youth ministers, parents, teachers and all those who walk alongside young people to join us for Āpōpō, a workshop on mental health.
‘Āpōpō’, which means ‘tomorrow’ or literally, ‘The Next Day’, because for those struggling in this area, the idea of making it to the next day is a powerful one.
‘Āpōpō’ is a dynamic and interactive programme that equips people with basic and effective tools, so that they can feel confident in their role of supporting those around them. The Āpōpō programme includes helpful information, tips and tools presented by a trained facilitator and their team of helpers. It’s about a village approach and building the fence way back from the edge of the cliff edge. It is super interactive, involving games, activities and opportunities for participants to practice what they’ve learned, through the use of role playing in a safe environment.

There is a cost for running this workshop. However, we do understand that budgets can often be tight, and we don’t want that to stop you from receiving the tools needed to deal with a topic that has challenged us in many ways as a community. Therefore, do let us know if you require any financial assistance. Contact Rochelle Dias from the ACYM team to talk further.
We cannot wait to see you at this workshop. We ask you to keep the team at Scripture Union who will be leading us in the workshop, the ACYM team and all those attending in your prayers. Thank you for all that you do to serve our young people.
