Certificate in Catholic Early Childhood Education
This Certificate was developed 2012 by Sr Lucille Taylor and Mrs Margaret Nicholls, in conjunction with the National Centre for Religious Studies. A trial was undertaken in 2012 and 2013 and at the end of the trial the programme was gifted to the National Centre for Religious Studies.
The Certificate is designed for educators, management and whanau involved in a Catholic Early Childhood Centre. It is designed to support Centres to implement the “Catholic Early Childhood Religious Education Curriculum Statement” (2010) and to provide a Catholic perspective to “Te Whariki”.
This programme includes eight modules which are presented over a two year period, four per year, one per term. The programme is only available in the Auckland Diocese, workshops are held on a Saturday at the Pompallier Centre in Ponsonby.
To gain the Certificate, attendance at the eight module workshops is compulsory. The assessment requirements for each module are to attend the workshop, present a portfolio of work completed in a Centre based on the learning and a personal reflection on how each module impacts on the candidate personally.
The programme can be joined at anytime throughout the two year period, there are no pre-requisite modules. The dates for the 2014-2015 programme are listed below.
Registration forms can be obtained from the Catholic Schools Office, Auckland.
