Rite of Election 21 February 2021
February 21 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
In the Auckland Diocese, the Rite of Election (for the catechumens, the unbaptised) is celebrated jointly with the Call to Continuing Conversion (for the candidates, those who are baptised in another Christian denomination). The Rite of Election is a ritual recognising that the catechumens have now been enrolled in the Book of the Elect marking their entry into the final phase of their preparation to to receive the Sacraments of Initiation. They have been elected (called) by the Church in the presence of the Bishop to become members. Then, throughout the remainder of Lent they and those seeking incorporation focus on the need for ongoing conversion – the elect and candidates join with Catholics throughout the world in seeking to deepen their faith, grow in holiness, and strengthen their relationships with God and neighbour. Validated parking will be available.
