The Rite of Election both closes the period of the catechumenate and marks the beginning of the final and more intense preparation for the sacraments of initiation which will be celebrated during the Easter Vigil. The call to Continuing Conversion recognises candidates already part of the elect moving into a reflective time of immediate preparation for reception into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
