Rite of Election 2024
Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion 2024
The Catholic Diocese of Auckland Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion 2024 will be held at the Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph on Sunday 18 February.
The Rite of Election both closes the period of the catechumenate and marks the beginning of the final and more intense preparation for the sacraments of initiation celebrated during the Easter Vigil. The call to Continuing Conversion recognises candidates already part of the elect moving into a reflective time of immediate preparation for reception into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
Your catechumens (unbaptised) are invited to take part in this ceremony. “This step is called election because the acceptance made by the Church is founded on the election of God, in whose name the Church acts.” RCIA 106. Candidates (baptised) are also invited to mark the beginning of their final phase in the incorporation journey.
