Te Kawe Ritenga Tapu — To carry the sacred rituals
The Liturgy Centre
To resource and energise our faith communities to participate fully, consciously and actively in the liturgy and so take up Christ's Mission.
The Liturgy Centre was established by Bishop Delargey, to provide a permanent vessel to carry the living rituals of the Catholic Church into the future of the Diocese of Auckland, New Zealand. This mission is reflected in our Māori name Te Kawe Ritenga Tapu – To carry the sacred rituals. Based at Pompallier Diocesan Centre, Liturgy Centre staff work with Bishop Lowe and other liturgical experts throughout Auckland to provide formation, information and resources on the public worship of the Church. The Liturgy Centre provides formation, information and resources for parishes, schools and communities to enable full, conscious and active participation in the public worship of the Church.
Formation provides spiritual and practical preparation for those involved in liturgical ministry roles. It allows people to develop confidence and skill for their ministerial role, as well as building understanding and nurturing their spirituality.
Continuing formation is important for all engaged in liturgical ministry. The opportunity to come to the well, drink deeply, and be refreshed helps to ensure that liturgy will be the source of 'true Christian spirit.' SC14
