Rangatahi - Young People
"Young People, you are not the tomorrow, you are not the ‘meantime’, you are the Now of God.” - Pope Francis
One of the key priorities of Diocesan life a is to enable young people to be Church in Mission now, not as the future of the Church but the Now of God.
"Christ is alive! He is our hope, and in a wonderful way he brings youth to our world. The very first words, then, that I would like to say to every young Christian are these: Christ is alive and he wants you to be alive!"
These are some of the starting words from Pope Francis in his document, Christus Vivit. Pope Francis continuously encourages young people to keep dreaming, to be courageous and to take risks. As the Church continues to serve young people, we would love to remind you of the infinite love that God has for each and every one of you. The gifts and talents that you bring are needed in our church today. Keep saying YES to the plans that God has for you and watch his adventure for you unfold.
With Catholic education at the very heart of the Church’s mission, Catholic schools strive to work with families informing young people who will take their place as leaders in the Church and society of Aotearoa-New Zealand. Catholic schools proclaim the virtue of hope, which is fundamental to the future of our society. We are, in the words of Pope John Paul II, called upon “to be people who live with gratitude for the past, enthusiasm for the present and hope for the future.” (Novo Millenio Ineunte, No. 1, 2000)
The goal of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry team is to support young people and those in ministry as we continue leading them closer to the heart of Christ. We minister, accompany and serve leaders of parishes, community youth and young adult groups. We foster young people from Kaitaia to Thames, to become missionary disciples, to serve, to walk alongside this path to holiness that Christ calls us to.
The Auckland Catholic Tertiary Chaplains are situated in the heart of Auckland and a space for all University students to find fellowship, faith formation and encountering Christ through scripture, Sacraments and more. Our vision is to ‘make disciples of all nations‘, specifically on campus in Auckland. Through our pillars of prayer, evangelisation and community, we aim to live beatified lives in order to draw others to beatified living.
